Yup, the more subjective it gets the more BS. Just because there is more BS does not make it necessarily worse just different.
The harder it is to come up with the answer the more dancing you can do.

Does this say as much about the students (practitioners) as the subject?
What happens when engineers take up art crit? (The reverse is most certainly not going to happen.)
