Notwithstanding my previous post, this weekend is my weekend to bring some machines up to date:

  • The big Mac Pro in the studio gets upgraded to 10.5. God help me if the in place install doesn’t work, because I’ll have to call Adobe customer support to reinstall Photoshop.
  • The HP Z3100 gets a firmware upgrade, from 6.0.0.whatever to the current 7.0.0.3
  • The kitchen machine gets upgraded to 10.5.

It might be an interesting weekend, but I do want to keep these machines running something like the most recent available software.

I wish you all the luck in the world, but I think it should work fine.
I’ve been using 10.5 on a mac pro and 2-3 other macs for about a year now, and both the upgrade and use after that has been without any problems.

    gee Paul,

you are making me feel guilty about the sheer terror later in the week of upgrading Power PC G5 from 10.3.9 to 10.4.11.
CS 4 is in the mail from Adobe. I upgraded my laptop to scope out what kind of havoc will be wreaked on the big machine. Arg, havoc aplenty.

Good luck. I expect to arrive at the change you contemplate in the year 2013
