Canon announces new cameras, Nikon announces new cameras, art of photography unchanged

Posted in art is a verb, equipment by Paul Butzi on August 23, 2007

Canon have announced new cameras, including the much anticipated and already much discussed EOS-1ds mk III and what looks to be a really nice small camera, the G9. Nikon have also announced new cameras, including a full frame (24mmx36mm) body, which presumably will cause a lot of Nikon lovers to stop talking about how the 24×36 is too large. Rumor has it Sony is ready to respond with announcements of their soon-to-be available camera bodies. Already, the internet is abuzz with discussion of the important advances these new camera bodies represent.

And in unrelated news, the essential bits of the actual art of photography remain unchanged. Remember, you read it here first.

Excellent! I’m glad to hear that art, in particular photographic art, must still have something to do with the artist! Bueno!

Ah, yes, those of “us” who actually use the camera, be it Nikon or Canon, to make pictures, and dare I say, art. However, sales to the likes of “us” could never keep those companies afloat, so bless the talkers, and the latest/greatest “gottahavers”. Without them, “us” would still be using…..(gasp)FILM! (Well, some of us still do dabble in the traditional technologies.) Unless the lottery is kind to me this week, I can’t afford any of those new fandangle cameras anyway….sigh.

Yes, “corniness” (as represented by the “heavy”, allegorical “weight” of the corn photo you “posted”) will always be an unchanging, essential “part” of the “photographic” process (as will “us” smart-asses).

Just kidding. You’re right, it will be funny to see how Nikoniacs who said full frame was too much will dance around this one. Me, I’m thinking about time, but where’s the $600.00 full-frame model? THAT would be news no matter who makes it.

Good corn picture. I have yet to do a sugar cane picture I like.
