Fogginess

We’ve been having nice, sunny weather here. And photographically, I’ve been distracted and in a big slump.

Good news, then, that here in the Snoqualmie Valley, my old photographic friend fog has returned. And, delightfully, Paul Lester shares my love for fog

Amy Sakurai, too, is looking forward to the change in seasons, despite the challenges that clouds and rain bring.

Time for me to get out the tripod, stop puttering around in the garden, make some fog landscapes, and see if it charges me up.

What a rich green color in this photo, love it!

Slumps in photography seem to be the norm. Trying to force your way out can make them last longer.

I’ve found simply relaxing and doing no more than I feel like doing is the best tack for me. I seem to recharged and recover quicker that way.

I’m certainly looking forward to the season change as well. Cool mornings, changing colors and more angled sunlight.

I had a hard time with the fall, winter, and spring when we first moved up here several years ago (it was in September). I just couldn’t stand day after day after day of flat gray light with no shadows anywhere.

But lately, though, it has been the bright, sunny summers with their long days that give me problems. For the past couple of years I have effectively shut down my photography during the summer and it is only as fall approaches, the days shorten, and the rain comes again that I feel the urge to get out with my camera.

My wife says that’s just because the new cameras always seem to be announced in the fall and I start taking pictures because I want to buy something new. 🙂

Awww! I’m late to the fog party. (On workdays I’m left with not enough time to read all the blogs I follow.) I’m surprised and pleased that I merited a note in your blog! Way cool. Thanks, Paul!

I love fog too. You guys (Paul, Paul, and Anita) motivated me to talk a little about fog in my own blog. Maybe October is SoFoFoMo (Solo Foggy Photo Month). 😀

We don’t get enough fog here. Maybe one day a year. I’ve never really shot in the fog – any sort of atmosphere would be fun, anything to break up the hot, clear blue, sunny days.

It’s at least cloudy today, big, fluffy, white, Simpsonesque clouds.
